Farm Day 2014

It was great to have some of our patrons out for our annual farm day! Because of a recent rain, folks came donned in boots and mud shoes. We began the day signing up for prizes, chasing ducks, and holding a little turtle and rabbits. Then, it was out to the farm!

Walking out to the cows and seeing the newest baby calf.

First Cutting of Hay

One of the highlights of summer for our family is making hay! The first cutting is not top quality hay due to a surprise rain shower and then with more rain predicted we baled it a little wetter than we would have preferred.

Charity loves the cats, but we doubt the feelings mutual!

Hannah and Titus’s new venture: Bees! This shape of hive is supposed to be more natural for the bees. The are so fascinating and put us again in awe of our amazing Creator.

The bottomless portable pasture pens get moved morning and afternoon to give the chicks a new salad bar twice a day. All that good chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals from the grass, sunshine, and fresh air make chicken that tastes wonderful and is wonderful for you!

Here are 4 of Titus’s 12 ducklings that arrived today. Titus has an keen interest in any bird, but especially ducks!

A group from our church in Chicago toured our farm and enjoyed the animals. We actually were out of town, but a family friends helped us out and showed them around and gave horse rides. It sounds like everyone had fun!

Baby animals and gathering eggs are always a highlight for some of the children.
